Recognition of Current Competency

Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) is a process whereby someone who thinks they already have sufficient theoretical and practical skills in all or part of a course, accreditation or competency can apply for recognition of this and gain "credits" towards completing a course, accreditation or proving competency.

SwimEd offers an RCC process for all courses, accreditations and competencies it issues.

The RCC application clearly explains the outcomes SwimEd is required to verify, the evidence the applicant needs to provide and the process of gaining RCC.

SwimEd charges a single upfront fee for Teaching and Pool Plant Operations RCCs or a two part fee for Coaching RCC applications. The first part is payable with the application and covers the administrative processing costs of researching, cross checking and verifying claims and making a determination. The second part of the payment is made upon successful finalisation of the application and covers issuing of the accreditation and final processing of the application.

Coaching applications also require a criminal history check to work with children and ASCTA membership. The ASCTA membership registration form and payment should be submitted with the application. Go to www.ascta.com to download the form.
